Intacct

OVERVIEW.

Intacct is a provider of web-based or cloud financial management and accounting applications for businesses and CPA firms. Intacct is based in San Jose, California.

Intacct was founded in 1999 to provide small and midsized businesses a cloud-based alternative to on-premises and desktop accounting solutions like QuickBooks, Microsoft Dynamics, and Sage. The company’s financial management and accounting applications, in use by more than 7,300 organizations from startups to public companies, are designed to improve business performance and make finance more productive. The Intacct system includes accounting, contract management, revenue management, project and fund accounting, inventory management, purchasing, vendor management, financial consolidation, and financial reporting applications, all delivered over the Internet via cloud computing.

The Intacct name was derived from “internet” and “accounting.” Intacct helped pioneer Software-as-a-Service or “cloud” computing, and its products were some of the first to use a multi-tenant architecture, which defines a unique approach to software design that significantly lowers the cost of delivering and using the applications.
